Policy Development
Comparative research support
ESFIM will do comparative research on experiences and
institutional arrangements in industrialised and developing countries
promoted by farmers’ organisations to tackle specific challenges
related with smallholder farmers’ access to agricultural markets.
This comparative research will draw on the major issues that are
identified during the ESFIM Inception Phase and are selected in
partnership with IFAP.
Collaborative research support
ESFIM will engage in collaborative research and policy
development in eleven developing countries around a ‘lobby
agenda’ and a
participatory policy formulation process of the national farmers’
organisation. The ESFIM collaborative research partnership will
strengthen the capacity of the involved farmers’ organisation to
generate quality proposals for improvement of the institutional
environment for smallholder access to agricultural markets.
Learning for Action
Learning for action will be enhanced through a
participative process which includes regular discussions, working
meetings, learning processes and national workshops in the country,
regional meetings and international workshops.
