Collaborative Research

The work packages are based on the results that have been achieved in the national workshops realized in 2008-2009 in the collaborative research component. In these workshops the National Farmers’ Organisations (NFOs) have defined the research priorities in their country, based on their specific context and linked to their own strategies, and define the research support activities. The research activities and thematic priorities have been organized as separate work packages in each country with separate implementing partners. Each country will have budget specifically assigned to contract local research support, a budget to cover costs related to advocacy activities and a budget for the organisation of participatory research and training processes.

Expected results

National farmers’ organizations will develop a pro-active lobby agenda related and a set of written technically sound propositions for changes in country specific key elements in the institutional environment. A lean, flexible and scalable interface for mobilizing consultancy support to NFO priorities will be developed. Participatory workshops and training events will be developed to translate the research in actionable knowledge in the NFOs membership in a form that is adapted to their existing institutional mechanisms for policy making and learning, e.g. several NFOs have already leadership courses where the research results can be used as input. For more detailed results, please refer to the “expected results” heading of each country work package.
